The Book With No Contradictions
When people write, they are bound to make mistakes such as spelling and grammar, contradictory statements, incorrect facts, omission of information and other various errors.
The Qur’an has no contradictions whatsoever- be it in scientific explanations of the water cycle, embryology, geology, cosmology; historical facts and events; or prophecies.
Do they not then reflect on the Quran? Had it been from anyone other than Allah, they would have certainly found in it many inconsistencies.
[An-Nisa 4:82]
Descriptive Illustrations And Prophecies
The Qur’an informs us about the past and the future. For example, the Qur’an informs us about nations that passed away ages ago and that were not even remembered at the time the Qur’an was being revealed. Allah says after mentioning the story of Nuh,
‘This is one of the stories of the unseen, which we reveal to you O Prophet. Neither you nor your people knew it before this…’ [Hud 11:4]
The Qur’an also contains news of many incidents that had not yet come to pass, such as when the Qur’an foretold the unexpected defeat of the polytheists. Allah says,
‘(Their) assembly will be defeated, and they will turn their backs (in retreat)’ [Al-Qamar 54: 45]
The Special Attributes Of The Qur’an
The Qur’an is the only book memorized in its totality, without faltering in any part of it, by an enormous number of believers. It is also one of the most read books on the face of the earth. For every letter that the believer recites of the Qur’an, he is rewarded for it with ten good deeds, and then Allah multiplies the reward for whomsoever He pleases.
Allah had made it so that the recitation of the Qur’an is facilitated and does not require the effort that is needed to go through any other book,
‘And We have certainly made the Qur’an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? [Al-Qamar 54: 17]
The reader of the Qur’an is never bothered by boredom while reading it, secondary to the Qur’an’s manner of composition and elegant literary technique. The Qur’an was made for all people and can be understood by all people- the layman, the intellectual, the average, and the rocket scientist. All can read, comprehend and benefit from it.
The Qur’an supports modern science. One of the most remarkable aspects about the Qur’an is that it contains many verses which accurately describe natural phenomenon in various fields such as embryology, meteorology, astronomy, geology and oceanography. Scientists have found its descriptions incredibly accurate for a book dating back to the 7th century.
‘We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth…’ [Fussilat 41:53]
The eloquence of the Qur’an is unparalleled. Ever since its revelation, no person has been able to produce a single chapter like that of the Qur’an in its particulars, beauty, eloquence, splendor, wisdom, prophecies, and other perfect attributes, even though there are chapters in the Qur’an that are just three verses in length, this was in spite of their being experts in their language and poetry.
The Qur’an is not just a book. It is an instruction manual with miracles and mercy. The Qur’an teaches man how to worship the One True God, hence fulfilling their true purpose in life, and attaining success in both this world and the next.
‘Indeed, we sent down to you the Book for the people in truth. So whoever is guided- it is for [the benefit of] his soul; and whoever goes astray only goes astray to its detriment… [Az-Zumar 39:41]
